Thursday turned into a tricky day for Sheffield Wednesday fans as the Steve Bruce speculation surrounding Newcastle United certainly stepped up a gear and in many ways, it did overshadow the official arrival of one of our known summer captures – Moses Odubajo.

It had long been speculated that he would be joining us this summer as a free agent and fans were well aware that he was training with us already, so it was only a matter of time and the versatile 25-year-old defender will provide good cover during the 2019/20 campaign.

Speaking to the Official Site he certainly sounded upbeat about joining the club given his previous experiences of visiting Hillsborough.

“The times I’ve played at Hillsborough in the past, before the referee blows the whistle – in that moment there – I don’t think you can get that anywhere else. Being the home team it gives you that advantage and that was especially the case last year when I came away with Brentford. It felt like we were going into the game with the lower hand, it’s like an extra man and it certainly helps.”

Taking to social media to react to his signing, plenty of fans sidestepped the Bruce issue to simply welcome him to us and as for what happens from here with the managerial seat, we can only wait and wonder.
