“Time to part ways”, “Get rid” – Some fans want Sheff Wed to release midfielder

Sam Hutchinson looks on his way out of Sheffield Wednesday this summer as he’s been out of favour under Garry Monk and is out of contract in the coming months.

The 30-year-old was exiled from the first-team in mid-January and hasn’t featured since, so it’s hard to see him being brought back into the fray. A lot of supporters from Sheffield Wednesday Fans Forum thank Hutchinson for his service but believe he should be released in the coming months.

Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

Max Lloyd Booth: “I think it’s time for a fresh start. I really like Sam, but good players have to go sometime- thanks for the memories.”

Oliver Hanson: “Thanks for the service and memories, Sam, but your time is up. All the best.”

Tim Wild: “Injury prone. Thanks for the service but it’s time to part ways.”

Mark Millington: “Good solid servant to the club but been injury prone recently so time to let him go.”

Paul Brown: “We need good and consistent rather than occasional excellence and unavailability. We can better reinvest his wages into a couple of youngsters.…”

Steve Miller: “I’d definitely keep him next season, but his disagreement with Monk seems to be the biggest stumbling block.”

Chris Allport: “In other circumstances, Hutchinson would get another contract. However, with the Monk cloud hanging over him, he will be away.”

Robert Shirley: “He’s our best player in that position by a country mile, but we’re not party to what goes on behind the scenes.”

Jordan Harrold: “Get rid.”

The defensive-midfielder joined Wednesday from Chelsea in 2014 and has gone on to make 154 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and making four assists.

Hutchinson had made 24 appearances across the board this season before being bombed out of the squad. Kieran Lee, Barry Bannan, Massimo Luongo, Joey Pelupessy and Alex Hunt were preferred in the last two months of the campaign, so the 30-year-old’s time at Hillsborough looks to be up.

It’s never been officially disclosed why Hutchinson lost his place, but Monk has spoken about needing a winning attitude among his players for Wednesday to succeed.
