Sheffield Wednesday confirm they will be without two players against Hull City – Liam Palmer (ankle), Fernando Forestieri (knee). The Owls could welcome back Massimo Luongo (head) and Steven Fletcher (illness), however.
Palmer suffered swelling to his ankle in Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City (December 29), having received a heavy challenge from Junior Hoilett, and will be out of action in midweek. The 28-year-old’s return date is unknown, so it remains to be seen if he’s fit to face Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Forestieri still hasn’t recovered from a knee injury suffered against Charlton Athletic (November 30), causing him to miss Wednesday’s last six league games. The 29-year-old is making slow progress with his rehabilitation, however, and there’s no indication when supporters can expect him back.
Luongo picked up a head injury in Wednesday’s 3-2 defeat to Stoke City and missed the Owls’ defeat to Cardiff, but the 27-year-old could return to face Hull. Fletcher could also be back in action after recovering from illness, but he’s far from 100%. Whether he can play 90 minutes remains to be seen.
