According to Yorkshire Live, Kieran Lee has recovered from a groin injury. The 31-year-old missed Sheffield Wednesday’s 5-0 defeat to Brentford on March 7 as he was still struggling to shake the knock, but he’s 100% fit and can now work on his conditioning without issue while on lockdown.

Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

Lee made 25 appearances in all competitions before the season was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, making five assists. He was a regular alongside Barry Bannan at the heart of midfield before losing his starting place in November 2019.

Lee was dropped by Garry Monk and was an unused substitute for two months. During that period of inactivity, he missed eight league games before returning to the starting eleven in January 2020. He ended the campaign as Monk’s first-choice in midfield, but his future at Hillsborough is uncertain.

The 31-year-old’s contract is up in the coming months and there hasn’t been any update from the club suggesting talks over an extension. It’s hard to see Wednesday letting him go, however, as Sam Hutchinson has been frozen out, Massimo Luongo struggled with injuries in his debut season and Joey Pelupessy’s contract expires this summer.

Nevertheless, it’s good news that Garry Monk’s squad are all fully fit for when the season is resumed. Wednesday players have been given training schedules to complete at home while they adhere to the Government’s order of a lockdown, but there is the risk the campaign may be cut short as the spread of the pandemic hasn’t slowed down.

Time will tell.
