According to Dom Howson of Yorkshire Live, Sheffield Wednesday’s senior players have received no “genuine offers” or anything “concrete”, which is why Dejpjon Chansiri doesn’t have much of a transfer budget for Garry Monk to spend this summer.
Howson said in a Q&A: “You can only sell players if there are offers on the table. Wednesday have received big-money bids in the past for the likes of Keiren Westwood, Barry Bannan and Fernando Forestieri, but have they received genuine, concrete offers for players in recent years? Not so much.”
Since taking over the club in 2015, Chansiri has failed to get maximum value from players sold – Wednesday had made the second-least amount of many from sales (£8m approx.) in the last five Championship seasons.

This summer could see more of the same too. There could be an exodus of players from Wednesday, with Morgan Fox, Kieran Lee, Joey Pelupessy, Sam Hutchinson, Sam Winnall, Atdhe Nuhiu, Fernando Forestieri and Steven Fletcher all out of contract in the coming months.
Eight first-team players could be free transfers this summer, so the Owls will only save money by getting them off the wage bill. Monk isn’t expecting much money to spend on new faces and Howson’s revelation reveals why.
