According to Football Insider, Sheffield Wednesday will have to pay £1m to sign Nathan Holland. West Ham United initially wanted £2m for the 21-year-old, but Football Insider say the Londoners ‘may let him go’ for less as the Covid-19 pandemic has led player valuations to fall due to dwindling club finances.

Wednesday are on the hunt for another winger, likely because Jacob Murphy will return to Newcastle United when his loan spell at Hillsborough is up, but it remains to be seen whether Holland is good enough. The former England U19 international has been short of first-team football and was playing in League One before the season was postponed.

Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

Holland joined West Ham from Everton in 2017 and has gone on to make four appearances in all competitions. He’s scored 19 goals and made 18 assists in 48 games for the U23s but has only had three months of senior football. The 21-year-old joined Oxford on loan in January and made 12 appearances, scoring three goals.

Holland impressed on loan, but is he on the level of Murphy and Kadeem Harris? Vital Sheff Wed have suggested Sammy Ameobi would be a better acquisition as he’s impressed at Nottingham Forest, but it remains to be seen who they’ll bring in.
