Aston Villa have been linked previously with a move for Sheffield Wednesday star Adam Reach and since the appointment of their old gaffer Steve Bruce, in many ways it was probably only a matter of time before that speculation returned.
We can probably expect a few links with some of his signings at Villa Park as well as Bruce does like to work with players he’s known previously and Ahmed Elmohamady is a key point there as he’s followed him around a few clubs.
In any event, with Villa linked with Reach previously the Daily Star – Jan 8 – P45 have regurgitated the speculation – with little update in fairness – and it certainly set tongues wagging amongst the Wednesday fanbase once again.
Mainly, if we are resigned to losing the 25-year-old talent given the form he’s been in this year, surely he’d go to a Premier League club rather than a Championship side.
It also ignores Financial Fair Play issues the Villans have as £10million, as reported, would surely be beyond them until they actually cash in on some players of their own.
Why would #swfc sell Reach for £10m to an EFL team when they were offered £15m last season from an EPL team. Oh and he’s improved. FFP or not, that deal isn’t happening.

What is Reach worth in today's market at the age of 25? Villa can suck it for 10m hahaha

Midfield goal-scorer James Maddison cost Leicester a reported 22.5m from Norwich. He had scored 14 in 44 Championship games in 1 career season. Reach has scored 6 in 25 so far for #swfc (and scoring more each season in his career). The market level has been set much higher.

Would’ve said yes to 10 million prior to the West Brom game, but having seen firsthand how important he is and how little we offer going forward without him when he went off injured against them, I wouldn’t entertain the offer at all

£10m for Adam Reach hahahahaha. That wouldn’t even buy his left pupil. #swfc

We’d be mad to turn down a £10m+ bid for Reach given our FFP woes #SWFC

Adam Reach is one of the best players in the Championship and I would take no less than 15 million for him. #swfc

The only reason I wouldn’t sell reach is because he’s fit with hardly any injuries. But I’d sell him with any bid around 12m. Every body has a price

Worth a lot more in this market. Signed him for 5, more than twice the player he was when signed him

If Villa offer £15-20 million for Reach, I’d take it 100%. Obviously Reach is quality, but taking the money solves our financial situation and allows us to start fresh in the summer. We aren’t going up this season, so why risk going into another embargo in 6 months… #SWFC
