It was being reported yesterday that Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Hooper was attracting attention from MLS sides DC United and Vancouver Whitecaps.

The 30-year-old is out of contract in the summer and if he decides to try a foreign adventure, he can sign a pre-contract deal with clubs abroad this month owing to his contract situation at Hillsborough. Having arrived from Norwich City initially on a very successful loan spell in the 2015/16 campaign, and then a £3million fee to make it permanent the following January, he’s scored 24 goals in a little over 60 games, but he has been sidelined with a lengthy injury and he’s yet to make an appearance this season after last featuring on Boxing Day 2017.

Sky Sports claimed the MLS interest in the player and they also state that representatives of clubs in China have also expressed a possible interest in him.

It’s almost inevitable he’s off, but we aren’t going to see a penny back sadly for our own coffers.
