With it being known that Steve Bruce will take the reins at Hillsborough on February 1 following his appointment as Jos Luhukay’s replacement at Sheffield Wednesday, plenty of eyebrows were raised as to why he wasn’t beginning work immediately.

Suggestions have been pretty rife on social media, and quite humorous at points as well to be honest, but Alan Biggs took to social media the other day to post up a very sensible and pretty understandable explanation as to why Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence have taken caretaker charge alongside Lee Bullen for the remainder of January, with our new gaffer following later.

Over the weekend, Steve’s son, Alex, ‘liked’ the Tweet and many have taken that as proof that it’s the proper story here behind the delay, and if you click the Tweet above, the warm messages of support and understanding show the kind of fanbase he’ll soon have cheering him on.

  • From my point of view SWFC are showing the right compassionate attitude towards Steve Bruces situation. With only two Championship matches in January and lots of communication it is no real prblem.

  • I have every sympathy for Steve and his family over this , having been there and experienced all of this. He can’t be held responsible for the timing and if anything we should have got him in back in October when Villa released him. It was clear at that time that Jos’s days were numbered and maybe we would have been a few points better off now.
I’m sure we all look forward his arrival at Hillsborough and will get behind him in taking our great club forward with a strong, fresh mind. Onwards and upwards – UP THE OWLS !
