Sheffield Wednesday suffered a 5-0 defeat to Brentford on Saturday and Alessio Da Cruz was one of many players criticised for his performance at Griffin Park. The 23-year-old made his seventh appearance for Wednesday, starting on the wing against the Bees, but he struggled to make an impact and was hooked at half-time.
Where will Sheffield Wednesday finish in the Championship?
1st - 6th
7th - 14th
15th - 21th
22th - 24th
Da Cruz failed to register a shot, make a tackle, create a chance, whip in a cross or make an interception. He completed only two passes in 45 minutes and had seven touches of the ball, so Garry Monk had little choice but to bring him off. Da Cruz and Josh Windass were both replaced for Fernando Forestieri and Connor Wickham.
Da Cruz looks like another victim of our poor transfer policy
Coming into a side with no structure, leadership and lack of confidence its a tough ask to succeed
If you look how many players we have signed last 4 years how many have actually been half decent?

Anyone who defends Monk after that line up I just don’t it. How he has started Pelupessy and Da Cruz today I will never know. He’s got to go ASAP #Monkout #swfc

Why does Monk think Da Cruz and Pelepessy are good enough to start every week? #swfc

I’ve thought for a long time Chansiri was & is #swfc ‘s killer. Monk had an impossible task under him. But…..he’s got to surely take the hit now for team selection? Dawson? Pelupessy? Da Cruz? 🤪 It’s laughable after midweek.

#swfc players and management team look like they want to be put out of their misery. Body language unsurprisingly tells the story. Monk has only his self to blame for today. Da Cruz, Dawson & JP should never have started. Da Cruz in particular has been woeful.

Ok, say we sack Monk, who's coming in to do better? I'm getting closer to being happy with that, but no one is going to want to come to us until our EFL charges are resolved. Why, oh why start with Pelupessy and Da Cruz?!!!

We all know we have bigger problems than the manager but Monk is not helping himself the keeper decision ,Pelupessy offers nothing & Da Cruz has done nothing i think he can’t be arsed & wants bullet for early pay off

Since joining on loan from Parma in January, Da Cruz has failed to score or make an assist in his seven outings for Wednesday. It’s hard to see him starting when the Owls lock horns with Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Should Monk opt to leave out the Netherlands forward, Kadeem Harris may start on the wing.
Wednesday finished the weekend 15th in the Championship with 48 points from 37 games. Ahead of their meeting with Forest, the Owls have lost nine of their last 14, picking up just two wins in this time.
