Sheffield Wednesday headed to the City Ground to face Championship opponents Nottingham Forest yesterday evening.

After having had plenty to cheer about in recent weeks, Wednesday couldn’t repeat the trick and ended up going 2-1 down on the night, although there was some cheer late on as Steven Fletcher made it a one-goal game in the 88th minute.

Despite the hope of a leveller it didn’t come, and the hosts definitely had the better of the game really.

WhoScored have Fletcher a match rating of 7.20 for his efforts on the day as he got the goal from his only effort on target – and in fact one of only five touches as he came on as substitute with 20 minutes remaining in the game, so some joy can be taken from his impact.

But it’s not that great a consolation.

Although disappointing, this is our first defeat in the last five games so we just have to dust ourselves off and accept there will be days like this in 2018/19 – how we react to them is what’s important.
