Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that Sam Winnall has an ‘injury concern’ and is another player who ‘looks set to miss out’ against Nottingham Forest on Saturday afternoon. Garry Monk said in a pre-match press conference that the 29-year-old had “picked up a little niggle” so he’ll be absent ahead of the Owls’ upcoming meeting.

Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

Monk will have a fully fit Steven Fletcher as his disposal, so Wednesday at least have their top goalscorer available for a tricky encounter. Winnall has scored only two goals and made one assist in 17 appearances in all competitions this season, so he won’t be missed.

Monk does have Jordan Rhodes, Fernando Forestieri and Atdhe Nuhiu who can lead the line, but the trio have scored only eight goals between them – Fletcher has more goals than all of his competition put together.

Wednesday are 15th in the Championship with 48 points from 37 games leading up to their meeting with Forest, having won just once from their last 10. The Owls have won one in seven at home too, so they may struggle against a Forest side boasting the third-best away record in the division.
