Despite picking up a point in the weekend’s clash against Rotherham United, Sheffield Wednesday’s injury luck continues at a pace I can only describe as being akin to idiotic Donald Trump tweets.
With plenty to be concerned about at Hillsborough at this moment in time, ahead of the game on Saturday the Owls suffered another blow as attacker Fernando Forestieri was ruled out of action for another six weeks having torn his hamstring.
Having missed parts of the season already with injury and suspension it was the last thing the 28-year-old needed and more importantly, the last thing we needed or fans wanted to hear as Forestieri on song, his impact on the first team needs no explanation.
He picked up the issue last weekend as we suffered a 4-2 defeat to Blackburn Rovers and this development is not going to help the current feelings that surround head coach Jos Luhukay from a number in the fanbase.
In many ways, it’s now typical that when injury hits at the club the standard reaction from fans is ‘get rid’ and that was certainly no different this time around.
Hopefully he will be fit enough for the January transfer window

Our medical and fitness team must be the worst in the entire country. Never in my life have I seen a team so inept at getting and keeping players fit for matches.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the players were faking it just so they don’t have to play for him.

Forestieri can’t be sold in January if he’s injured throughout the month. #SWFC pic.twitter.com/KuJOenEBfH

There will be Owls fans who agree with the above sentiment, and there will be others who feel it’s a massive and non-useful overreaction even if they acknowledge the frustration that leads to such comments.
What it does show is the depth of splits and frustrations at the club and further, how ingrained they are now becoming. That’s good for nobody.
