“Sign him up” – A lot of fans want Sheff Wed to sign 26 y/o permanently this summer

Sheffield Wednesday will have a decision to make on Josh Windass in the coming months, as he’s due to return to Wigan Athletic when his loan spell comes to an end.

The 26-year-old has spent the last four months at Hillsborough, but he’s been short of form and appearances, so it seems unlikely that the Owls would turn his move permanent.

Supporters from Sheffield Wednesday Fans Forum want to sign Windass, however, as they believe he’s shown enough potential to be a useful squad player.

Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

Tommy Christopher: “Sign him up for me. Looked like the creative spark we’ve craved in the middle of the pitch.”

Steven Bell: “Sign him.”

Peter Rik: “Yes yes yes. He will only get better with more game time.”

Mark Adams: “One of few I would try and sign up.”

Matthew Brown: “Useful squad player but that’s about it.”

Mick Iggo: “Better than what we have got.”

Gavin James: “Yeah, I’d sign him.”

Derek Prigmore: “Yes. Why not? Certainly looked better than the other two loanees Da Cruz and Wickham.”

Dave Bacon: “100% sign the lad, we have seen what (he) can do.”

Russ Sherratt: “He will improve if given a run in the team.”

Matt Garnett: “Give him chance.”

David Hepburn: “Good player. Liked him when he was at Rangers.”

Jake Sharman: “Useful.”

Windass joined Wigan Athletic from Rangers in 2018 and has gone on to make 56 appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals and making four assists. He was loaned out to Wednesday in January, however, and made four appearances, scoring two goals.

The 26-year-old’s contract with Wigan still has one more year to run, but his future at the DW Stadium is uncertain as he’s fallen out of favour under Paul Cook. And with Windass being positive about his short Wednesday stint, the Owls wouldn’t have any obstacle in signing him this summer.
