Sheffield Wednesday defender will “probably not” feature against Charlton

|

Sheffield Wednesday will be without Moses Odubajo against Charlton Athletic as he’s still struggling with a hamstring injury.

How will Sheffield Wednesday fare against Charlton Athletic?

Win

Draw

Lose

The 26-year-old has been out of action for more than three weeks, missing Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Barnsley (February 8), 1-0 defeat to Luton Town (February 12), 3-0 defeat to Reading (February 15) and 3-3 draw with Birmingham City (February 22).

Monk told Alex Miller of the Sheffield Star: “It doesn’t look likely (that he will feature). Mo, probably not this week.” Odubajo has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season, the last of which came in Wednesday’s 0-0 draw with Millwall (February 1).

After Charlton, the Owls wrap up the month against Derby County (February 29), but it remains to be seen if Odubajo will play. In his absence, Monk has used Osaze Urhoghide, Liam Palmer, Dominic Iorfa and Joey Pelupessy at right-back to varying levels of success.

The Wednesday manager will have a tricky decision to make ahead of their Charlton clash, as Urhoghide and Pelupessy have struggled for form, Palmer may be needed at left-back and Iorfa has started at centre-back alongside Julian Borner & Tom Lees.

The Owls are currently 12th in the Championship with 45 points from 34 games, coming off the back of four defeats and three draws from their last seven.
