Massimo Luongo has been ruled out of Sheffield Wednesday’s meeting with Charlton Athletic, and Garry Monk revealed that Adam Reach will also be an absentee on Wednesday.

How will Sheffield Wednesday fare against Charlton Athletic?

Win

Draw

Lose

The 27-year-old has been out of action with a toe injury since the beginning of February, causing him to miss the Owls’ 1-1 draw with Barnsley (February 8), 1-0 defeat to Luton Town (February 12), 3-0 defeat to Reading (February 15) and 3-3 draw with Birmingham City (February 22).

Monk told Alex Miller of the Sheffield Star: “It doesn’t look likely (that he will feature). Adam is going OK but won’t be available this week.” Reach has made 33 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating nine goals. His last outing came in Wednesday’s 0-0 draw with Millwall (February 1).

The midfielder’s absence coincided with Morgan Fox’s injury, leaving Wednesday without a recognised left-back in the first-team, so Monk has had to use Liam Palmer in the makeshift role.

Reach may struggle to get back into the side upon his eventual return as Fox played 45 minutes against Birmingham and will soon start for Wednesday when fully fit. Jacob Murphy, Kadeem Harris and Fernando Forestieri will be ahead of the 27-year-old in the winger pecking order too. Time will tell.
