According to Dom Howson of the Sheffield Star, Sheffield Wednesday will be without Liam Palmer against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, but the 28-year-old is ‘expected to return’ to training next week.

Palmer has been out of action with an ankle injury suffered in Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City (December 29, 2019). He was the victim of a robust challenge from Junior Hoilett, causing him to miss the Owls’ 1-0 defeat to Hull City (January 1, 2020), FA Cup win over Brighton & Hove Albion (January 4) and 2-0 win over Leeds United (January 11).

The 28-year-old has made 19 appearances in the Championship this season, racking up 1637 minutes of playing time. When fit, Palmer has been a regular for Wednesday, but his place may be up for grabs.

In his recent absence, Garry Monk has Moses Odubajo, Osaze Urhoghide and Dominic Iorfa to call upon at right-back. And after two impressive performances in January, Urhoghide could keep his place against Blackburn.

The 19-year-old impressed against Brighton and Leeds, so it’s hard to see why Monk wouldn’t select him on Saturday.
