Sheffield Wednesday fans haven’t been left greatly unimpressed by the EFL Cup first round draw earlier this morning.
We will face @SunderlandAFC away in the first round of the @Carabao_Cup #swfc https://t.co/MnmortWuAQ

The EFL held the draw in Vietnam and first round ties are provisionally set for the week beginning August 13.
Wednesday have been given an away trip to the Stadium of Light to face last season’s relegated Championship side Sunderland. Ticket details and a firm date for the fixture list will follow after more discussions have taken place.
Although the Black Cats are preparing for life in League One, our Championship campaign has left a mark on the fans for sure as even though our last encounter saw Jos Luhukay’s side take a 3-1 victory back in April, confidence certainly doesn’t seem to be high going into this tie.
Don’t know why people are whinging already? If we are gonna get beat I’d rather it was against them than someone like Forest Green. It’s probably going to be televised as well.

Others were a little bit brighter in their own responses to the news, although I’ll leave you to judge potential sarcasm for yourselves as it’s not beyond the realms of possibility to read the comments in a number of ways.
