According to Nottinghamshire Live, Sheffield Wednesday have been given ‘positive news’, with Massimo Longo recovering from injury ahead of a potential return to football in June. The 27-year-old suffered a number of problems in his debut season, but he should be able to see the campaign out if Wednesday are given the chance.

Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

Luongo joined Wednesday from Queens Park Rangers last summer and has gone on to make 21 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. The Australian international has injured his groin, knee and head, resulting in him amassing only 1090/3780 minutes of football across the board. Luongo has impressed at times when called upon, but Garry Monk hasn’t been able to rely on his fitness.

The midfielder has said as much too. He revealed in an interview that this season has been one of the hardest in his career, but he’s determined to put things right. Luongo is confident of nailing down a starting place on merit and being an asset for Wednesday, so his return will be eagerly anticipated.

Wednesday will have to wait a week or so until finding out whether they’ll be able to resume their season. The Owls are 15th in the Championship and have nine games to play.
