Injury blow for Sheff Wed as 20 y/o will miss Swansea clash

|

Garry Monk told Yorkshire Live that Osaze Urhoghide will miss Sunday afternoon’s clash with Swansea City. The Sheffield Wednesday manager gave an injury update ahead of the weekend meeting, saying Julian Borner has returned to training and Josh Windass will be back next week, but it be “slightly longer” before Urhoghide follows suit.

Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

He said: “The game on Wednesday was a little too soon for Julian Borner but he should be fully recovered. He trained (Thursday) and should train (Friday). He should be available for the weekend. Josh Windass will hopefully be with us at some point next week. Osaze is going to be slightly longer.”

Urhoghide joined Wednesday from AFC Wimbledon in 2019 and has gone on to make four appearances in all competitions. The 20-year-old has Moses Odubajo and Liam Palmer standing in his way of getting more opportunities, hence why he’s not featured since February, but he’ll be useful to have in the squad when fit. Jacob Murphy and Kadeem Harris have been makeshift wing-backs for the time being.

Ahead of Sunday’s clash with Swansea, Wednesday are 14th in the Championship with 52 points from 40 games, having drawn one, won one and lost one of their last three outings. They face a City side ahead of them in the table but with only one win in six, so Monk may be hopeful of a winning return to the Liberty Stadium.
