Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

The 26-year-old has been sidelined with a minor injury, causing him to miss Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest (June 20), 2-1 win over Bristol City (June 28) and 3-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion (July 1). He could be back in time for the Owls’ meeting with Preston North End in three days.

Windass joined Wednesday on loan in January and has gone on to make four appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. His last outing for the Owls came all the way back in their 5-0 defeat of Brentford (March 7). Garry Monk’s side have six games left, so there will be plenty of opportunities for Windass to impress.

The £1.44m-rated player is hoping to turn his loan move permanent at Hillsborough and Monk’s feelings appear to be mutual. Supporters have also backed Windass being signed this summer too. His parent club Wigan Athletic have gone into administration, so there could be a fire sale to generate funds.
