‘Excellent’, ‘Unreal’ – some fans praise Sheffield Wednesday defender after Leeds win

|

Sheffield Wednesday enjoyed a 2-0 win over Leeds United on Saturday and Osaze Urhoghide was one of many players who came away with praise from supporters for his performance.

The 19-year-old impressed on his debut in Wednesday’s FA Cup win over Brighton & Hove Albion (January 4) and was rewarded with a start against Leeds. Urhoghide put another fine showing for the Owls and may have staked a claim to be a regular at right-back.

Against Leeds, he played for 84 minutes, made 38 touches, completed 66.7% of his 12 passes, made three tackles, made one interception, drew one foul, made three clearances and made three successful dribbles.

The Englishman only joined Wednesday from AFC Wimbledon last summer and has now made two appearances at senior level. He has Moses Odubajo and Liam Palmer for competition but has certainly proven to Garry Monk that he could a regular in the future.

Whether he keeps his place at right-back for the rest of the season remains to be seen, but Monk will be delighted to see Urhoghide showing so much potential. There’s now every chance he starts for Wednesday against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

How will Sheffield Wednesday fare against Blackburn Rovers?
