Transfer blow for Sheff Wed as Premier League clubs enter race for 20-year-old

|

According to Gregor MacGregor of Bristol Live, Sheffield Wednesday have been dealt a transfer blow in their pursuit of Eddie Nketiah as two Premier League clubs have entered the race for the 20-year-old.

Nketiah saw his loan spell at Leeds United cancelled prematurely, but he’s expected to spend the remainder of the season on loan at another club. Wednesday are interested in the striker, but they have competition from a lot of clubs to land his signature.

Bristol Live say Aston Villa and Norwich City are keen on Nketiah and could hijack a potential deal. Bristol City were closing in on a deal for the England u21 international, so it remains to be seen if Wednesday can bring him to Hillsborough.

Nketiah scored three goals in 17 Championship appearances at Leeds and racked up less than 500 minutes of playing time. He made only two league starts under Marcelo Bielsa and was sent back to parent club Arsenal as a result.

Getting regular playing time is likely to be essential for Nketiah when pondering his next month, so he may be open to picking a Championship club over Villa and Norwich. Time will tell.

Would Eddie Nketiah be a good signing for Sheffield Wednesday?
