Tomorrow night, Sheffield Wednesday will travel to Stoke in a bid to continue their Capital One League Cup run. If Wednesday make it through then they will be through to the semi finals of the Cup, but first they need to get through Premier League opposition in Stoke City FC.

Ahead of the game, Sam Hutchinson spoke to the press.

‘We believe in ourselves. We have that arrogance.’

‘It’s how the gaffer (Carvalhal) wants us to play.’

‘We will approach it as we do every game and do our job. We have to win our one on ones and see what happens. Stoke is a massive challenge.’

This aura of only focusing on the challenge ahead and nothing further is something that Carvalhal has gotten into the players and carries well himself.

‘We have to think about the next game and not think about the finals. The championship is a hectic league.’

Commenting on his recent run of yellow cards, Hutchinson went on to say they they were for some ‘stupid’ challenges and is something he is working on. The suspension could also be seen as a ‘blessing in disguise’ for the player as he now feels ‘fresh’.

When given the chance to comment on the possibility of the semi finals and potentially the final of the cup, Carlos Carvalhal seemed very down to earth about the run.

‘We don’t think about one competition. We always just think of the next game.’

‘We must do our best in all competitions.’

Next he turned his comments towards the next opposition.

‘Stoke have a fantastic team, a lot of nationals in the team. It will be a very hard match.’

‘We must do our best in 90 minutes, or extra time, or even penalties.’

‘I promise we will fight and try to play good football.’

‘We are very happy with what is happening to the club and we are fighting for our fans.’

I think it’s safe to say that Sheffield Wednesday aren’t going to roll over on this one. Carvalhal has had previous experience with long cup runs at former clubs, now we’re seeing this at Wednesday. Tomorrow night should be a tasty one.
