Bruce Bemoans One Decision As Wednesday Take A Point From Stoke

|

Sheffield Wednesday made the trip to Stoke City earlier today as Championship football returned following the March international break.

With solid form under our belts following the arrival of manager Steve Bruce, everyone is keeping an eye on a potential Play-Off run, and confidence was high that we’d use the fixture lull to our advantage instead of it impacting on our momentum, although there was disappointing news ahead of the game with confirmation that Steven Fletcher had been ruled out with injury.

Brucie’s side kept the unbeaten run going as we battled to a scoreless draw on the day but despite defensive efforts, the hosts had the better of the game and given the chances they created they will feel it was a game they should’ve won.

We take the point though, take some confidence from the clean sheet and look for significant improvement in the next one.

Speaking to the BBC following the full time whistle, Brucie said of the 90 minutes.

“The big chance, we think he (Boyd) was onside for the goal. The linesman took an eternity to make the decision, and when you look at it, I thought the rule was to benefit the attacker, not the other way. So that was a big decision for us. That would have been nice for us to go 1-0 up, but with all the problems we’ve had, we’ll take the draw. Considering the problems we had with Rolando missing out, we’re playing makeshift at the minute, if the truth be known. It’s a point, but it’s not particularly what we want.”
