Wednesday have made a bid to sign in-form Bury striker Ryan Lowe, according to reports today.

Owls boss Gary Megson is desperate to bolster his attacking options before the close of the transfer window tomorrow and has turned to Lowe, who has already netted seven goals in as many appearances so far this season.

Wednesday have been linked with the striker, who turns 33 next month, for a number of weeks but BBC Radio Sheffield is now reporting an official offer has been made to the Gigg Lane club.

Lowe has played his football career in the lower leagues, starting in non-league, but made a name for himself last season when he helepd Bury to promotion from League Two with 28 goals from 50 appearances.

And he’s continued that goalscoring form into League One this season, including one goal when Bury beat Wednesday at Gigg Lane earlier this month.

Bury will be desperate to hang on to their star striker, but at 32, Lowe could well be keen for a move to Hillsborough.

He could join Lomana LuaLua, who is currently in discussions with the Owls over a move to S6, in bolstering Megson’s attacking options.
