Wednesday are set to bolster their defensive options with the loan addition of Slovenian centre-back David Kasnik from Olimpija Ljubljana.

Olimpija sporting director Milenko Acimovic has confirmed the move on the club’s official website, stating he will remain at Hillsborough until February at least, although Wednesday have yet to confirm the deal.

Acimovic told the club’s official website: ‘Kasnik got a very good offer from Sheffield Wednesday.

‘Even the player himself wanted to move to England, where he will stay for at least six months.’

A new striker has been made a priority before the close of the current transfer window tomorrow but Megson also has concerns over his defence, especially following the 3-2 win over Scunthorpe United at the weekend.

Kasnik, 24, can also play left-back and his arrival could mean the departure of one of, or both of, Mark Reynolds and Mark Beevers before tomorrow’s deadline.
