Wednesday secured their place in this season’s Championship play-offs as a second-half double from Gary Hooper and a Lee Peltier own goal gave them a 3-0 victory over their nearest challengers, Cardiff City at a packed out (home end at least) Hillsborough Stadium.
In truth, Cardiff City barely made the match a competition as Wednesday rolled over the seventh placed side. Backed by a noisy and supportive crowd Wednesday can look forward to an end of season party at Wolverhampton Wanderers next week ahead of the spectacular spectacle of the playoff matches.
