Stuart Gray is insisting that Wednesday can still have a large effect on the race to the Premier League. But that race for promotion doesn’t include Sheffield Wednesday this season but with ambitions high under new owner Chansiri the manager, his players will be wanting to end the season on a high.

Top-half Wednesday close out the season by facing four of the top-seven sides in their remaining seven fixtures.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Gray said – “We can have a big say on who is going to be up there and who is going to finish in the playoffs. I want to finish as high and with as many points as possible.”

Additionally, as reported on Vital Wednesday the Owls boss has confirmed that club captain Glenn Loovens is unlikely to play again this season due to his ankle injury.

With local and national media outlets reporting the news throughout the football world. It is no secret that new club owner Dejphon Chansiri want and will install an individual to oversee the club`s football operations. Still involved in a club advisor type role, Milan Mandaric has recommended this appointment to Chansiri and since Wednesday have been linked with ex-Liverpool and Tottenham chief Damien Comolli.

As Vital Wednesday report yesterday, Gray said he would be happy to work alongside a director of football, insisting:
“The game is changing. It`s not only a director of football, it`s the knowledge of overseas (footballers) as well. Director of football oversees all football matters, even probably down to the playing surfaces, the academy as well, that`s what I see as the role. It might take some of the workload off me. At the end of the day, if we bring somebody in that`s going to help get Sheffield Wednesday to the Premier League, I`m all for that.”

Dejphon Chansiri is currently away on club and his other companies business but Gray has stated his desire to sit down with the Thai businessman and discuss his future plans. Expected to be the playing budget for next season, potential transfer targets and expiring players contracts.
