Sheffield Wednesday are back in training ahead of the Championship’s potential return in June and Kieran Lee has ‘recovered from injury’ after being ‘troubled’ with a ‘groin’ problem, reports Nottinghamshire Live.

The 31-year-old missed Wednesday’s 5-0 defeat to Brentford (March 7) before the season was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but he’s made a full recovery in the last two months.

The Owls will find out in the coming days whether the Championship season will resume, so Lee could make his return when Wednesday do. He’s been a regular under Gary Monk when fit, making 25 appearances in all competitions this season, so Lee is expected to start in their first game back.

Wednesday have nine matches left to play – Nottingham Forest, Bristol City, West Bromwich Albion, Swansea City, Preston North End, Queens Park Rangers, Huddersfield Town, Fulham and Middlesbrough. They currently sit 15th in the Championship with 48 points from 37 games.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic caused this season to be postponed, Wednesday had only won two league outings in 2020. The Owls have lost nine of their last 14 games in the Championship, so the break may have done them some good.

Time will tell.
