Morgan Fox is set to sign a new contract at Sheffield Wednesday. Garry Monk says confirmation will come “ASAP”. The 26-year-old has been a regular at left-back this season, making 26 appearances in all competitions, but his existing contract is set to expire in July. As a result, Wednesday have been in talks over a new deal and Fox is expected to commit his future for a few more years.

The left-back joined Wednesday from Charlton Athletic in 2017 and has gone on to make 97 appearances, scoring and creating 10 goals. Fox was competing with Liam Palmer for a starting place earlier this season, but he’s been a regular since mid-October. Wednesday just need backup for the 26-year-old now, as Palmer and Moses Odubajo aren’t naturals left-backs.
It’s unlikely that will come before the January transfer window shuts, however, so Monk will have to make do until the summer. Wednesday have a more fervent need to strengthen their attack too as Steven Fletcher is out for a number of with a knee injury, so the Owls will be hoping Fox can stay fit.
