Owls Target Joins Notts County

Defender Sam Sodje, who was on trial with Wednesday last month, has joined the Owls’ League One rivals Notts County today.

The former Charlton Athletic and Leeds United man was expected to put pen-to-paper on a deal at Hillsborough as soon as the Owls’ current transfer embargo was lifted.

But with the embargo still on Wednesday, and with boss Alan Irvine deeming Sodje not yet fit enough to feature in his plans, the club parted company with the defender.

It seems the loss is County’s game, with new Magpies boss Paul Ince wasting no time in agreeing a deal with the Nigeria international to make him his first signing at Meadow Lane.

The 31-year-old has penned a deal with County until 2012.
