SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY’s youth team face their Rotherham United counterparts in the first round of this year’s F.A Youth Cup.

It’s been a positive start to the season for Sean McAuley’s youngsters and they’re favourites going into this game with their centre of excellence neighbours.

The fledgling Owls have recorded victories over Portsmouth, West Brom, Wolves and Newcastle so far this season and also posted an impressive draw against Chelsea.

But, the Owls have suffered two defeats on the spin against Derby and Middlesbrough, albeit the latter coming courtesy of a last minute strike.

Wednesday have only made it to the Youth Cup Final once before in their history and that was in the glory days of the early 90s, but this bunch is highly thought of and will be hopeful of progress against Rotherham on Wednesday night.

The kick-off is at 7:00 pm, at Rotherham’s temporary Sheffield home, Don Valley Stadium.
