Owls Respond To Noisy Half Time

Looks like Sheffield Wednesday players needed to wear ear plugs during the half time team talk (or should that be shout?) during the match against Derby at the weekend. It seems they were told a few home truths by Paul Sturrock who admitted ‘It got a wee bit noisy at half-time,’

Sturrock was unhappy how the defenders were playing so deep ‘It could have been well, well away from us – it was like the Alamo. John Blackley started on them and they got my tongue at the end but they responded properly.’

Wednesday went in at half time 1-0 down but to their credit, with goals from Chris Brunt and David Graham, they rallied to take the points. Sturrock says the improvement came from the back:

‘They came back out, the centre-halves won their headers and tackles and, all of a sudden, we’re on the front foot. Plus, all of a sudden we livened up our crowd.’

Sturrock also praised the ‘fantastic job’ on-loan keeper Nicky Weaver did saying he kept us in the game during the first half.
