Wednesday face Premier League Burnley in the second round of the Capital One Cup tonight and Owls boss Stuart Gray says the competition is important to him.

The Owls wboss is eager to keep the momentum of an unbeaten start to the campaign going at Turf Moor and will field a team he believes can leave Lancashire with a place in the next round.

Wednesday will be be underdogs against Premier League opposition but Gray is hopeful his side can cause a minor cup shock on a return to a club where he was a former first team coach and caretaker manager.

“The cups are important to me, they were as a player and they are now,’ he told the official SWFC website.

“I want to win every game in which Sheffield Wednesday play and we will be going to Burnley set up to win the tie.

“I know the place very well and I am looking forward to going back there.”

The Owls are unbeaten in their last eight visits to Turf Moor, having won four and drawn four, including a 7-2 thumping of the Clarets in April 2003.
