Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka will make changes to his side for the visit of Wednesday despite picking up an impressive victory at Bolton Wanderers in midweek.

The former Real Madrid player and assistant manager says he is wary of how many matches Boro have in such a short space of time and aims to rotate his squad accordingly.

“I will make some more changes because we have so many games in a short space of time,’ he told the official MFC website.

“When you have players in your squad who haven`t had a pre-season with us like Clayton, Omeruo, Damia and others it`s important to be careful with them to keep them 100%.

“I`m very happy with how the new players have adapted to the team despite not having a pre-season with us.”

Boro have taken six points from a possible nine to start the season, with their sole defeat coming at Leeds United, and Karanka knows there will be big hopes for his men on home soil.

He added: “We’re at home and I know there are high expectations for the team at the Riverside, the important thing is that at the minute we`re picking up points even when we`re not playing at our best like on Tuesday.”
