Owls Have A Point To Prove

Wednesday will find themselves outside of the Championship relegation places at 10pm tonight if they can avoid defeat at high-flying Blackpool.

A point would see the Owls leapfrog nearest rivals Reading into 21st place, with Wednesday’s goal difference one better than that of the Royals.

The Owls’ clash against Ian Holloway’s men is the only match going ahead in the Championship tonight.

The game was postponed on Monday, December 28 due to a frozen pitch.

Avoiding defeat will also keep Alan Irvine’s unbeaten run, albeit just two games, firmly in tact following the much-needed 2-1 success against Barnsley at Oakwell.

Any such success at Bloomfield Road will be a huge boost for Wednesdayites going into yet another crunch clash against rock-bottom Peterborough United at Hillsborough this weekend.

Moving out of the bottom three usually provides teams with a big psychological boost, and Irvine will no doubt be hoping any such movement tonight will act in a similar manner for his troops.

Saturday’s big clash against the Posh, and other fixtures this month against relegation rivals Scunthorpe United and Plymouth Argyle, could be seen as the Owls’ biggest games of the season.

But tonight’s clash at Bloomfield Road, the Owls’ game in hand on many teams around them, could prove vital if Alan Irvine is to keep Wednesday in the Championship this season.

More of the same tonight please lads…

UP THE OWLS!
