Wednesday defender Mark Beevers has joined Championship rivals Millwall on an emergency loan deal.

The 22-year-old has moved to the London club on a 28-day deal and can go straight into the Lions’ squad for tomorrow’s Championship clash against Bolton Wanderers.

The Barnsley-born defender has featured regularly for the Owls this season, making eight appearances in all competitions including Wednesday’s 3-2 win over Millwall earlier in the season at Hillsborough.

But with Martin Taylor arriving at the club from Watford since then, and getting the captain’s armband, as well as the return to fitness of Anthony Gardner, Jones has deemed the Owls Academy product surplus to requirements for the time being.

Lions boss Kenny Jackett will look to Beevers to plug the gap left by the injured Paul Robinson and suspended duo Karleigh Osborne and Shane Lowry.
