Wednesday have completed the signing of George Boyd on a free transfer following his contract expiry at Premier League side Burnley. The Scottish winger has joined the Owls on a two-year deal.

The signing has heavily anticipated across the local press in South Yorkshire and on social media as fans welcomed Boyd`s arrival to S6.

Boyd, aged 31, rejected the offer of a one-year contract extension to remain at Turf Moor in favour of a move to Hillsborough after a great season in the top flight with the clarets where he made 39 appearances in all competitions for Burnley last season, scoring twice including a late strike to secure the Lancashire side three-points at Stoke City.

Boyd has played for Peterborough, Nottingham Forest, Hull City and Burnley after breaking out of the youth team set-up at Stevenage. He has featured on the international stage for England C before opting to represent Scotland in April 2009.

Boyd has also five promotions on his career honours with Hull City, Burnley and Peterborough.
