Jordan Rhodes stole the headlines after scoring a hat-trick in Sheffield Wednesday’s 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest, but Steven Fletcher was also hailed by supporters for the part he played in Saturday’s victory – the 32-year-old had a hand in two goals on the day.
Fletcher assisted Jordan Rhodes for Wednesday’s opener, knocking down the ball for the 29-year-old to volley low into the corner from close range. And after Rhodes bagged a treble in the 37th minute, Fletcher notched the fourth in first-half injury time – stabbing in a deflected effort from Tom Lees.

Great performance by @swfc today. Great to see Rhodes and fletcher scoring and working together and will rightly get the plaudits. For me luongo was outstanding again. A mention though for Cam Dawson has done everything right since coming in #swfc

The Scotland international has made 22 Championship appearances this season, scoring and creating 14 goals. He’s bagged six goals and one assist in his last four outings for Wednesday and showed promising signs of a formidable partnership with Rhodes over the weekend.
Whether the pair line up together against Bristol City on Sunday remains to be seen, however, but Garry Monk should be impressed with what he saw.
