Sheffield Wednesday ambitious new owner Dejphon Chansiri, who has been in place around a month now. Following his multi-million pound takeover of the Yorkshire giants he and the club, with advice from Milan Mandaric are clear on wanting a individual to oversee the club’s day to day football operations.

Chansiri has set a clear target to lead Wednesday back to the top flight by 2017, of course our 150th anniversary.

‘Once we’ve got an announcement to make we’ll make it,’ said Gray to the local media and swfc.co.uk.

When asked if he would be happy to work with a director of football to drive the club forward.

Stuart Gray said, to swfc.co.uk –
‘I think so. The game is changing. It’s not only a director of football, it’s the knowledge of overseas (footballers) as well. Unfortunately the British prices are inflated when you try and sign players, so maybe we have to try and look further afield for those uncut diamonds. Director of football oversees all football matters, even probably down to the playing surfaces, the academy as well, that’s what I see as the role. It might take some of the workload off me. At the end of the day, if we bring somebody in that’s going to help get Sheffield Wednesday to the Premier League, I’m all for that.’

Again as Wednesday, head into a match that could easily just be a end of season kick about, agaonst Huddersfield Town. But the club media team and boss Stuart Gray is urging his players (and fans) to push on and aim high in the remaining games.

With 15 squad members playing for revised or renewed contracts a high finish and as many points on the board come the end of the season is best all round. Wednesdayites would love to see more of the fighting spirit that saw off relegation battlers and near neighbours Rotherham United.

Gray spoke to swfc.co.uk saying –
“It`s another Yorkshire derby and everybody wants the bragging rights,” They are fighting and scrapping for points but I`m more interested in how we perform and I want the result. You have got to play until the last whistle is blown. We have shown great character and belief and we can look to that every time things aren`t going our way. I can say to the players, ‘let`s remember what we did at Blackburn and Rotherham. We have to push ourselves to the max because at the end of the day, nobody will give you anything.”

With fixtures against the likes of Norwich on Easter Monday, followed by games with playoff chasers Brentford, Bournemouth and Watford on the horizon before the seasons out. Gray, Chansiri and a vocal fanbase won’t be happy slipping down the table.
