Wednesday boss Stuart Gray says his side fully deserved to progress to the third round of the Capital One Cup.

The Owls secured a safe passage through thanks to a slender 1-0 victory against Burnley at Turf Moor, courtesy of a late Atdhe Nuhiu penalty.

“We got it right in both boxes tonight and when you do that, you have a chance,’ Gray told the official SWFC website.

“The defence was strong and credit to Gary Madine up top because he held the ball up and brought others into play.

“We were good value for the win and I`m delighted for the players because they have done so well at a Premier League side.

“We knew it would be a good test and I told them to go out there and impose themselves on Burnley because we are a good side too.”

The result continued Wednesday’s impressive unbeaten start to the season, which has has seen them only concede in two matches in all competitions so far this term.
