It’s not often that two former Wednesday players go head-to-head as managers, but that’s the case this weekend when Hartlepool United travel to Swindon Town.

And not only are they former players at S6, but they’ve also taken to the Hillsborough dugouts as managers of the Owls, pretty unsuccessfully, in recent times.

Former midfielder Danny Wilson will take charge of Swindon Town tomorrow as former Owls goalkeeper Chris Turner takes his Hartlepool side to the County Ground in League One.

Turner, who was born in Sheffield, enjoyed two stints at Wednesday, the second between 1988-1991 being while Wilson was also at the club.

He made over 200 appearances in total in the Owls goalkeeper jersey, with 75 of those coming during his second stint, which included many with Wilson in the Wednesday midfield after he arrived at Hillsborough in 1990.

Both will pit their wits against each other tomorrow, and there’ll also be a bit of a former Wednesday vibe on the pitch too.

Former Owls stopper David Lucas and former winger Jon-Paul McGovern are both likely to start for in-form Swindon, while Ritchie Humphreys, of course, should be starting for ‘Pool.

So Owls fans may want to keep check of how things get on at the County Ground tomorrow, with very much a Wednesday feel about the game.
