Explained: Who is the Liverpool player Sheffield Wednesday want to loan in January?

|

Garry Monk is blessed with a lot of attacking options at Sheffield Wednesday – Steven Fletcher, Jordan Rhodes, Fernando Forestieri, Atdhe Nuhui, Sam Winnall – but it appears he’s still looking to strengthen in the January transfer window.

According to Mike McGrath of the Telegraph, the Owls want to sign Rhian Brewster on loan from Liverpool. The 19-year-old has struggled for first-team football and could be open to a temporary move away to get regular minutes.

As per Transfermarkt, Brewster has been prolific for Liverpool at youth level, contributing nine goals in 11 games for the u18s, two goals in six games for the u19s and 23 goals in 28 games for the u23s. This season, he’s scored and created six goals in 11 reserve-team games across the board.

Brewster has featured twice at senior level in 2019/20, playing a full 90 minutes in Liverpool’s 2-0 EFL Cup win over MK Dons (September 25) and penalty-shootout victory over Arsenal (October 30), but he’s not made the matchday squad ever since.
