With the loan transfer window coming to a close this week, speculation was always going to kick into a higher gear and it’s certainly done that as Sheffield Wednesday are now being linked with Chelsea pair Lucas Piazon and Michael Hector.

Goal reported the speculation originally.

24-year-old Piazon is a central midfielder and has a fair bit of Championship experience following loan spells out with Reading and two spells at Fulham previously. 26-year-old Hector has also had spells with Aberdeen, Reading and Hull so they both carry reasonable game time from numerous loan spells away from Chelsea.

They would both help fill gaps in the Wednesday squad and provide greater competition and depth and sealing moves for the pair would be a further boost after our slow and disappointing summer.

Hector was pretty steady in the Championship last season from my memory, but I always though Piazon was a striker. Me or Goal have it wrong?

Danny Batth from Wolves is a new one on me, maybe I haven’t opened that tab yet as I browse around?

Manager Jos Luhukay on the clubs’ Facebook basically said he wasn’t involved and hadn’t spoken to any prospective signings so he couldn’t address the speculation himself.
