With a fair few positives on show from Sheffield Wednesday’s victory over Ipswich Town at the weekend, there was a clear stand out winner on the day when it to the top performer.
Wednesday Man Steals The Show Against Ipswich As He Celebrates New Contract
24-year-old Lucas Joao more than justified his new contract at Hillsborough as he scored a brace to take us to back to back victories for the first time in the 2018/19 Championship campaign and it really feels like Wednesday may have some momentum about them now.
We couldn’t quite keep the clean sheet in the game as Ipswich did come back into it for a period, but with Joao hitting the woodwork and other efforts going begging, there’d have been few complaints had the scoreline been slightly larger – especially when they were reduced to ten men.
The Portuguese attacker pleased many in the fan base as his new deal was announced, and fans weren’t slow to come forward with their praise following his second goal in this game.
Joao is definitely the most promising #swfc player. Big things to come from the lad.

Penney, Thorniley and Joao all absolutely superb for Wednesday today – youth is the way forward #SWFC

That's a game we would have lost last year. Poor performance but managed to scrape through. Thorniley & Penney spot on again. Dawson a bit dodgy with some of his catches. Forestieri & Fletch were needed a lot earlier. Joao is back with a bang! Onwards and upwards! #SWFC

Happy with that win, strange team selection. Not sure why Nuhiu was picked. Had a shocker.
Penney, Bannan, Thorniley, Palmer, Joao all class though.
Just add Fessi and Fletcher to the first 11. #SWFC
