‘Best player on the pitch’ – some fans praise Sheffield Wednesday defender after 1-1 draw
Despite Sheffield Wednesday underperforming in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham City, Dominic Iorfa was one player who came away with praise from supporters. The 24-year-old started at centre-back but showed real attacking intent to drive with the ball from deep and create opportunities for his teammates.

Iorfa was dominant in the air, covered almost every blade of grass at Hillsborough and was arguably Wednesday’s best player on the night. Some fans believe he could be an effective midfielder in the future and took to social media to laud his contribution. No player in the squad made more dribbles than Iorfa while only Barry Bannon made more passes.

Disappointing result for #swfc tonight. Can't complain at the effort from 1st minute to last. Creating 24 shots & 12 corners is testament to that, however can criticise failure to be clinical. It will be this team's downfall this season I fear. Iorfa was outstanding again

Against Birmingham, the former England u21 international played a full 90 minutes, made 83 touches, won six aerial duels, created two chances, made one assist, completed 88.3% of 57 passes, whipped in two crosses, made one tackle, drew one foul, made five successful dribbles, had one shot and made six clearances.
Iorfa has made 16 appearances this season, scoring and creating three goals. He’s been a regular at the heart of the defence but can also operate at right-back, so he’s an important player for Garry Monk. He should keep his place against Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
