Wednesday returned from the Black Country with three well earned points. Owls boss Carlos Carvalhal was beaming after his side added a second goal when they dominated the first half.
Taking the lead after Fernando Forestieri converted a 15 minute penalty which he was fouled for. Followed up by the little striker bursting free and crossing to Lucas Joao who laid off perfectly for Kieran Lee to tuck away the second.
Carvalhal speaking to swfc.co.uk said:
“Today we deserved to win.
“Wolves made it difficult for us in the early stages but we were determined to create chances and we did this very well.
“We scored the first goal and deserved to be in front, but then we wanted to keep making chances and we did this and got the second.
“The second goal made a big difference for us today.
“We played very well, but there have been other games this season where we have played better and not scored the second goal, so it is important that we did this today.”
Wednesday looked firm throughout the 90 minutes and despite the large backing of Paul Lambert`s side they rarely looked like threatening the Owls dominance. Carvalhal moved to praise his team`s collective defensive display, adding:
“The whole team was very compact and the defensive organisation was very good.
“Not just Keiren Westwood and the four defenders but the midfielders and attackers also.
“We are in a good way and playing very well, we have improved our efficiency and I hope this continues for the rest of the season.”
