Many Sheffield Wednesday fans went into Wednesday evening’s clash against Nottingham Forest with high hopes given our improvements in recent weeks, but sadly by the fulltime whistle the main feeling was that of disappointment.
Steven Fletcher’s late effort was nothing more than a consolation and it was a very poor performance from Jos Luhukay’s side and he didn’t hide his own frustration as he met with the media following the game either.
With a number of players being singled out for criticism on social media following the showing, there were also a number of fans who felt it was an entirely illogical overreaction – especially when it came to young goalkeeper Cameron Dawson – but this is going to be a topic of conversation regardless of whose between the sticks this year given the omission of Kieren Westwood this year.
I like Dawson and think he'll become a very decent keeper. Westwood not playing is an odd one but there must be a reason for it. What that is we may never know. The defence at times looks disorganized which I think says a lot for Loovens, Lees is a good defender but couldn't

Us the first goal. Fox like Palmer and Reach at the start of last season are easy targets, sadly Dawson seems to be heading that way too.

1st loss in 5 games for @swfc & some owls fans have gone OTT yet again! Slagging nearly every player off, Nuhiu & Fox being the main targets and even some have now turned on Dawson. 1 LOSS IN 5. Get a fxxcking grip, we cannot win every match!

Fox was ok last night. Far better than others. Bloke in front of me spent 90 minutes slagging every single player off. He wanted subs from about 8 minutes in. It was poor but everybody have a minute eh ????

It’s getting to a state with the keepers that I always put us down for both teams to score on my bets it’s a joke pal #wawaw

We have to forget Westwood and hope Dawson's confidence with regards commanding his box comes with experience – I think it will, but takes time for any young keeper.
I'm happy with our start to the season – thought we'd be on a fair few points less than we have now.

Westwood > Wildsmith > Dawson. I can't get my head round this keeper situation

Whilst the above comments can be classed as an overreaction, at least they are genuine questions for debate rather than the usual types of criticisms we can see on social media platforms from those who feel any kind of comment is fair game when somebody has a bad day at the office.
