Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay is not going to concede the battle when it comes to the calls for some clarity over the future of goalkeeper Keiren Westwood and the real reasoning behind his omission from the first team this season.
The Republic of Ireland international is yet to take to the pitch this season and we’ve already had some fall out with the manager and the 33-year-old player publicly disagreeing on an injury issue the other month.
In his pre-game press conference ahead of the Championship clash against Aston Villa later today, Luhukay was again asked about the situation given concerns over the form of Cameron Dawson, given his errors whilst the young lad still develops.
JL was asked again about Keiren Westwood. “It’s not a discussion,” he said.
Stands by his decision to make Cameron Dawson the Owls’ No 1. “He has not made mistakes,” he said. JL pointed to the Stoke match, saying Dawson kept them in the match. #SWFC

Obviously for the press, whilst this might be an easy topic to find content from (like me) it’s also more than valid as fans naturally want to know what’s going on with our best No 1. Is it contractual and financial, has there been a behind the scenes row? The longer it rumbles on, the more extreme the speculation will become amongst fans.
I think the chairman has more to do with this than the manager.

Absolutely scandalous to lie to your supporters again and again, the reason Westwood is being ignored has categorically nothing to do with ability (he’s not playing reserves either) and every thing to do with his contract @swfc Chansiri is hiding behind Jos’s excuses #SWFC

Keep a clean sheet? More chance of Lord Lucan riding past Hillsborough on Shergar hotly pursued by the Loch Ness Monster. That's a NO #swfc

This is just increasingly weird Dom. Everyone knows Jos wasn't happy with KW last season, but surely his record, performance in the previous two years and the views of Weaver count for something. KW possibly the best keeper the club has ever had.

Sense Wednesday want to cash in because of his age and the ability of the other two but plan was spoiled by no offers.

Instead of everyone blaming Jos, people should be questioning what Westwood is doing wrong for Jos to feel so strongly about this ????♀️

Just laughable. If he thinks Dawson hasn't made mistakes he's away with the fairies. Should have done better in both the last two games.

What a joke! Westwood commands the area. Helps defenders out. Dawson dithers with goal kicks and clearances ????

JL is clueless

At what point will they admit that it’s some contractural nonsense? Can’t believe for a minute that any experienced football manger believes that he isn’t our best goalie
